At Organic Pet Nutrition we convert medicinal and food plants into highly bio-absorbable liquids enriched with Nature’s benefits. Our first product, LEAP, from organic olive fruit juice is a concentrate of the olive fruit's most potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecules. Your pet will receive, in a few drops of liquid, the greatest benefit of the plant, and what is consumed will be quickly absorbed and utilized by your pet.
Our goal is to create products that truly supplement your pet’s diet – whether it be for joint health, muscle recovery, gut health, immunity, or skin and coat health.
Olives have evolved an amazing defense system in order to survive and thrive in the harshest environmental conditions of scorching heat, hot winds, and dry arid soil. From the edible fruit of the olive is produced the most potent antioxidant discovered to date in the small, highly bio-absorbable molecule, hydroxytyrosol.
LEAP is derived from the juice of the olive and contains the highest concentration of hydroxytyrosolfound in nature.Free radicals that cause the most damage to joints and other organs are scavenged and eliminated by hydroxytyrosol. Additionally, hydroxytyrosol, together with other natural defense molecules found in the olive, inhibit inflammation by blocking the activity of lipoxygenases (LOX) and cyclooxygenases (COX-1, COX-2) – enzymes that promote and perpetuate inflammation, and ultimately organ destruction.
And olives are a part of the “Mediterranean Diet.” Many articles have been written about the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet – in fact people living in Mediterranean countries tend to consume relatively high amounts of fat, but have far lower rates of cardiovascular disease and inflammatory disorders (like arthritis and colitis) than in countries like the United States – one of the primary explanations is the contribution of olives and olive oil to the Mediterranean Diet.
So what’s the relationship between olives and arthritis?
The French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) – the largest agricultural research institute in Europe found that olive polyphenolics, primarily hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein, had an incredible impact on inflammation associated with bone stress. The researchers found that a supplement of olive extract decreased pain and improved activities of daily living in adults with osteoarthritis.
And in another study, performed at Arizona State University’s Bio-Design Institute, in humans with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, a supplement of olive extract significantly decreased the symptoms associated with arthritis including inflammation and pain, improved activities of daily living including walking, eating, and getting up in the morning, and decreased markers of cardiovascular risk.
Improved mobility is important in human and pets because an increase in mobility results in stronger bones and muscles, the ability to do more exercise, improved balance, and better cardiovascular function.
The unintended benefits of greater mobility are an improved quality of life for your dog, greater longevity, better immunity (and thus fewer allergies), improved skin and coat, and decreased risk of depression and dementia.
